An Oklahoma couple is furious that a former teacher avoided jail time and got away with three years probation for raping their son.

According to Tulsa World, the victim’s parents Shasta and Adam Belty are outraged that the teacher accused of raping their son only got a “slap on the wrist."

The New York Daily News noted that the Belty’s became concerned about their son’s whereabouts when he did not come home on the night of March 17, 2012. The teen told his parents that he was staying at a friend's house, but when they called his cell phone he admitted that he was in a Candlewood Suites hotel room with a 27-year-old lady.

The lady he referred to was English teacher Erin Kathleen Queen.

After catching her with the boy in the room, police arrested and charged her with first-degree rape. She was later charged with second-degree rape and a misdemeanor charge contributing to the delinquency of a minor because she allegedly gave the 17-year-old alcohol.

However, her charges were dismissed last week and she received a fine, probation and had her teaching license revoked.

The Belty’s are extremely frustrated with the ruling and vow to work to change the state laws.
