After spending a few days in the hospital over the weekend after having surgery, Ted Turner has checked out of the Argentina hospital and is returning to the United States.

The media mogul reportedly was only in the hospital for observation while he was in the South American country. No more information regarding why he went to the hospital was released at the time on Friday.

Turns out he was rushed to the hospital for surgery because of appendicitis, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The operation was said to be a minor one.

The 75-year-old thanked the hospital staff and said he was doing all right in a statement released on Monday. "I'm happy to report I'm recuperating well and looking forward to getting back to business as usual."

Turner's statement also thanked those who worked at the Bariloche and Buenos Aires hospitals he spent time at. He noted that they "were amazing and took really good care of me."

Phillip Evans, Turner's spokesman, said that the Turner Broadcast Systems founder would not have anything more to say about the incident.
