Collecting Beatles memorabilia has become a lifestyle for crazed fans and depending on how much money ones willing to spend, one lucky fan can be the new owner of the piano played in the 1965 film, Help!
Both John Lennon and Paul McCartney’s talented fingers have grazed over the keys—if that’s not enough reason to make the auction purchase, I don’t know what is. The 1907 Bechstein Concert Grand Piano is the very piano that the duo composed the song “Help!” on, according to The BBC.
Currently, the movie director Richard Lester is in possession of the coveted piano. He also shares that McCartney played the instrument while creating another Beatles hit, “Yesterday.”
At the Omega Auction in Liverpool England on March 20th, the piano is estimated to sell for over $83,600, as reported in to Rolling Stone.
The auction will also be selling over 200 pieces of Beatles memorabilia including the four matching coats worn on the album cover, for somewhere between $82,000 and $115,000. Jackets worn by George Harrison and Ringo Starr in the movie will be available for purchase as well.
Whoever becomes the new owner of the piano, will own a significant piece of musical history.
