Peter Lanza, the father of Adam Lanza is speaking out about his son for the first time since the shooting tragedy occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary school in December, 2012.

In an interview with The New Yorker, Lanza talks about the day that his son killed himself, his mother, and 26 people, including 20 children at Sandy Hook.

In the interview, Lanza, who had not seen his son for two years when the shooting occurred, talks about the regrets that he has with his son, including not pushing harder to spend time with him. Lanza refers to his strained relationship with his son in the interview.

“With hindsight, I know Adam would have killed me in a heartbeat, if he’d had the chance. I don’t question that for a minute. The reason he shot Nancy four times was one for each of us: one for Nancy; one for him; one for Ryan; one for me," he says referring to his ex-wife (Adam's mother), and his other son, who is four years older than Adam.

According to New York Daily News, Lanza believed that Adam, who had Asperger's, was also an undiagnosed schizophrenic, which is what led to the mass murder.
