A pregnant mother drove onto a Florida beach and into the ocean on Wednesday with her three kids inside the car. Rescuers were able to pull all of them to safety.

According to ABC News, the mother was Ebony Wilkerson who is from South Carolina. She drove into the surf on Daytona Beach with her kids, who are 3, 9 and 10, in the car.

One rescuer, Stacy Robinson, noted how he thought it was some sort of joke at first when the minivan began driving in the surf. Driving is legal on Daytona Beach.

He said they went alongside the vehicle to warn her away from the surf and saw one of her kids screaming for help and trying to grab the wheel away.

Wilkerson locked the car doors, put up the windows and drove further into the ocean before the minivan was moved by the waves sideways and started to sink.

WESH Orlando reports Tim Tesseneer, who helped pull the kids out said, "the two in the back seat (were) crying, with their arms out, saying, 'Our mommy's trying to kill us. Please help.'"

She is currently being examined for mental problems, as Wilkerson's sister said that she had been ranting about demons a few hours ahead of the car crash. She told dispatch she hadn't believe that Wilkerson would actually hurt her kids though.

Wilkerson told police that she was afraid of her ex-husband finding and hurting them.
