A toy company that utilized a Beastie Boys song in a promotional video has settled its lawsuit against the Beastie Boys.

Oakland-based business, Goldieblox, filed suit in November. The hip-hop group has a ban on using their songs in advertisements. According to Rolling Stone, a spokesperson said, "The lawsuit between the Beastie Boys and GoldieBlox concerning GoldieBlox's use of the Beastie Boys song 'Girls' has been settled. That settlement includes (a) the issuance of an apology by GoldieBlox, which will be posted on GoldieBlox's website, and (b) a payment by GoldieBlox, based on a percentage of its revenues, to one or more charities selected by Beastie Boys that support science, technology, engineering and mathematics education for girls."

GoldieBlox specializes in construction toys for girls, and the Beastie Boys song was featured in an ad for “Princess Machine.” The video shows girls singing about science and engineering. It has seen millions of times before it was removed from You Tube.

The rap stars countersued the toy company, according to the Associated Press. The newspaper says it was not immediately known if Monday’s settlement would have any effect on that claim.
