This week’s edition is action-packed, to say the least! Hercules has Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson taking on the role of the Greek demi G-d as he now works to defeat a tyrannical warlord. Edge of Tomorrow is an action/science fiction film starring Tom Cruise as a soldier fighting aliens while also being caught in a time loop. Finally, yet another reboot of the popular mid-90s cartoon television series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, this time it’s in live action with our four amphibian heroes plus their rodent master at it again fighting evil. All three motion pictures are sure to be filled with mind-blowing special effects and riveting plots to keep moviegoers on the edges of their seats in addition to giving them a great deal of bang for their buck. Plus they’ll get to see some of their favorite celebs kicking *ss and taking names!
Hercules is an action adventure extravaganza starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in the title role. Directed by Brett Ratner, who directed all three Rush Hour films as well as 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand, Johnson’s Hercules, after enduring his famed labors, is now a “G-d for hire,” who teams up with a king and his daughter to bring down a tyrannical warlord. Co-starring Ian McShane, John Hurt, Joseph Fiennes and Rufus Sewell, the trailer shows a dark world where a narrator asks Hercules who he is amidst images of his fighting dangerous animals and accomplishing amazing feats. Judging from the trailer, it’s sure to be a summer blockbuster. It opens in theaters on Friday, July 25.
Edge of Tomorrow is a science fiction/action bonanza starring Tom Cruise as a soldier fighting in a war against aliens, but finds himself caught in a time loop on his last day of battle. Co-starring Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton and Jeremy Piven, the trailer is laden with incredible special effects, amazing battle scenes and Cruise giving his usual 100% in the role. The movie opens in theaters on Friday, June 6.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is an action adventure comedy starring the four heralded hero amphibians, who won the hearts of television viewers with the mid-90s cartoon television series. Now, from producer Michael Bay, famed executive producer of the Transformers movies, he brings moviegoers the turtles doing their thing in live action. Starring Megan Fox, Will Arnett, William Fichtner and Whoopi Goldberg, the four protagonist turtles, Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello and Leonardo along with their rodent sensei, Splinter, emerge from their sewer home to fight evil. The trailer shows the turtles kicking butt as usual and meeting April O’Neill (Fox) as they try to save the city from the evil Shredder (Fichtner) and his Foot Clan, but there’s a secret the Shredder knows about the turtles’ origin that will change everything! The movie premieres in theaters on Saturday, August 9.
