The Pentagon announced Friday that, so far, they have spent $2.5 million in the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines flight.

The United States has been assisting with the search since it first began last week. According to ABC News, the U.S. has put aside $4 million in funding to further help with the search. This could pay for a search to continue to early April.

The most current leads, on where Flight 370 could be, have taken many search units towards the Indian Ocean, where satellite imagery has spotted two objects that might be part of the missing plane. The flight only had one American adult on board, but 239 passengers and crew total.

Officials told NBC that it’s too early to determine whether or not the U.S. will be putting more than $4 million into the project because it would depend on if the search has made any further progress.

Pentagon spokesman Col. Steve Warren stated that the U.S. does not plan on trying to get reimbursement from Malaysia for the search funds.
