Some fans who donated to the Veronica Mars Kickstarter have been frustrated over how their digital copies of the film have been handled, so Warner Bros. is reportedly set to offer refunds.
The steam of complaints were enough to get director Rob Thomas to comment on the Kickstarter page saying, "Please know that Warner Bros. have given Customer Support a lot of freedom to help make things right, so if you're having issues, please let them know," reports Variety.
One of the ways to make fans happy is that the studio is said to have been handing out refunds, but they have not publicly commented on the issue yet.
The problem stems from the choice of services offered to Kickstarter fans who ponied up $35, which was the amount needed to gain access to a digital copy of the film as it hit theaters.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, fans are given the choice of accessing the movie either through Flixster or Ultraviolet. Both services merely offer streaming, rather than an actual movie file fans can save.
Complaints ranged from the fact that their copy is not truly theirs, they can only stream, while others aren't happy since the services aren't always available outside of the U.S. or simply work slowly.
Thomas also wrote that the choice of service shouldn't be a surprise as the Kickstarter page always "planned to include Flixster as a digital distribution platform." He explained they weren't able to offer supporters through other services, such as Amazon or iTunes, but wanted to.
