TWC-Dimension is moving forward with its adaptation of Veronica’s Room, a play by Ira Levin. The studio has picked Mark Bomback to write the film.

Bomback’s credits include The Wolverine, Unstoppable and the upcoming Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. According to Deadline, he also recently worked on the script of Focus Features’ Fifty Shades of Grey film. Universal is also developing his script Art of Racing In the Rain.

TWC co-chairman Bob Weinstein said that Bomback likes the play as much as he does and “together we hope to make something very sinister and special,” notes The Hollywood Reporter.

“I've been a massive fan of the brilliant Ira Levin for as long as I can remember, and it's a true privilege to adapt this creepy gem of a story,” Bomback said.

TWC-Dimension acquired the play in December. It was written by Levin and produced on Broadway in 1973. It features two students who stay at a decrepit New England mansion, where they meet the last surviving member of the family that called it home.

Levin, who died in 2007, is best known as the author of Rosemary’s Baby. NBC is currently developing a mini-series on the book, which was already made into an iconic film by Roman Polanski in 1968.
