A Georgia woman and her father have been arrested after it was discovered that their home was not in suitable living conditions for the woman’s child.

Sarah Veazey, 38, and her father, Robert Veazey, 62, were arrested Sunday after police were called to the residence to respond to a dispute, according to The New York Daily News.

When police arrived at the home they found a dozen cats and two dogs. There were feces from the animals found throughout the home and rodents in the ceiling.

“There is no running water in the residence so that the bathroom facilities are not in working condition and have been that way for more than 30 days. For bathroom facilities in the residence, there was a bucket being used and then emptied into the toilet so that the toilet is overflowing with feces,” said the arrest warrant obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The 6-year-old daughter of Sarah Veazey reportedly slept on a mattress in the home’s messy living room.

The arrest of the mother and grandfather of the child comes less than two weeks after Sarah Veazey complained on Facebook about government offices getting involved with families in distressful situations.

“I heared on the news that the government wants to start telling people how the hell to reise there kids. What do u think about this?” Veazey wrote on her Facebook on February 22.

As often happens in situations such as this, neighbors were unaware of the horror in the Veazey home as the child appeared to be content and clean.

The Veazeys were charged with child cruelty, a felony, and their bond was set at $10,000.
