A car crash can be an extremely frightening thing. But when a 10 year old crashes a car she got into and drove off in while sleepwalking, it becomes all the more terrifying.
According to Yahoo! News, the residents of a neighborhood in Toledo, Ohio, found the 10 year old girl behind the wheel of a crashed car, crying. The 10 year old, who has a developmental disability, apparently took her family's car, drove about two and a half blocks, and crashed into a semi as well as three other vehicles while she was sleepwalking.
Authorities said the girl was scared and still crying when they arrived at the scene.
The step dad of the 10 year old noted that she sleepwalks often, but have never done anything as extreme as this incident involving a vehicle.
Police cited the 10 year old with failure to control, note wearing a seatbelt, and operating a vehicle without a license. Toledo News Now noted that the authorities said it's normal to cite in an incident like this so the victims are able to get assistance with repairs from their insurance companies.
The child was not arrested. However, she is scheduled to appear in juvenile court. Polices say the case could very well be thrown out. Victims were glad the girl was left uninjured. No other injuries were reported.
