A Spring Break party got out of hand Saturday night when 100 people were arrested and at least 44 people were hospitalized in Southern California. Residing right next to the University of California, Santa Barbara, Isla Vista broke out in a street brawl.

Around 9:30 p.m. violence broke out at the annual spring break party known as Deltopia, reported theAssociated Press. Things however began to intensify when a backpack filled with bottles of alcohol hit a police officer. Then rocks, bricks, and bottles began to be thrown at officers in the crowd of more than 15,000 people, reported the L.A. Times . Additionally fires were started and law enforcement vehicles were damaged.

As a result of the brawl, emergency response was called in and authorizes used tear gas, pepper spray, and foam projectiles to calm the crowd.

Order was restored by Sunday morning however at least 5 police officers were injured due to the violence. Authorities stayed in the area throughout Sunday morning to clean up glass and trash.
