One adult and 19 students were injured Wednesday after a knife wielding suspect went on a stabbing spree at a high school just outside of Pittsburgh.

According to WPXI, authorities have said that the suspect, a teenage boy and student at the school, was taken into police custody.

Police believe that the 16-year-old used two knifes when he arrived at school and attacked fellow students.

FOX News noted that officials at an afternoon press conference said that four of the student victims were taken to area hospitals via helicopter. The adult victim, a school security guard, has been discharged from a local hospital. And all of the victims are expected to survive, doctors reported.

Several students recounted the horrific scene they witnessed inside the school to local news outlets, while others explained that they ran for the exits in a panic without realizing what had happened.

There is no word yet on the teen’s motive for the stabbings. He was also being treated at a nearby hospital for cuts on his hands.
