AC/DC is not taking that exit on the “Highway To Hell” any time soon. Singer Brian Johnson has denied rumors that the group is planning on taking any type of break or retiring.

There were rumors floating around earlier this month that the group, best known for hits like “Back In Black” and “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap,” would be calling it quits. It was rumored that a member of the band - possibly rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young - had fallen ill, which would force the group to stop performing and recording.

However, Johnson told The Telegraph that this is not the case at all. While a member of the group isn’t feeling well, they do still want to keep performing and are even writing a new album.

“We are definitely getting together in May in Vancouver,” Johnson said. “We're going to pick up some guitars, have a plonk, and see if anybody has got any tunes or ideas. If anything happens, we'll record it.”

He explained further that the group’s future is still up in the air. “I'm not ruling anything out,” the singer said. “One of the boys has a debilitating illness, but I don't want to say too much about it. He is very proud and private, a wonderful chap. We've been pals for 35 years and I look up to him very much.”

The group will soon be celebrating its 40th anniversary, which would also be a good opportunity to give a world farewell tour, but Johnson wouldn't commit to that.

AC/DC has survived drastic changes before, including the 1980 death of their original singer, Bon Scott. Johnson replaced him and has been fronting the band since then.
