Rumors circulated on Monday that Australia’s most successful rock band, AC/DC, might be retiring.
Insiders told Billboard that there's no truth to the talk. AC/DC's current label, Columbia Records, has chosen not to comment at ths time.
The rumors began when it was reported that one of the band members, Malcolm Young, wasn't feeling well. There were health concerns, according to the Daily Mail. Recent reports say that this isn't the first time that fans have heard that AC/DC might stop touring and recording.
AC/DC was originally formed by Malcolm and Angus Young, and the band might be Australia’s biggest rock ‘n’ roll export. They originally formed in the early 70s, and to date, the band has sold more than 200 million albums. AC/DC has released Black Ice, an international smash in 2008. The subsequent tour of the album is recognized as one of the highest grossing tours in history. The band returned to Australia for the tour of Black Ice and fans purchased approximately 650,000 tickets.
Currently, AC/DC is scheduled to appear in the recording studio for six weeks. AC/DC was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame. They also were inducted into the Rock and Rock Hall Of Fame in 2003, according to Billboard.
