Celebrities sometimes sing for a cause. Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are choosing to air a new arrangement of Dream On to honor people who were harmed during the Boston Marathon bombings.
The event was devastating. More than 260 were injured when two bombs exploded during the 2013 marathons. “Dream On” is one of the more popular songs from Aerosmith, a band originally from Boston. The band played "Dream On" during the Boston Strong Concert benefit last May, according to Billboard. The song is part of the ESPN special Dream On: Stories from Boston's Strongest, according to the Associated Press that will air for the first time this Saturday on ABC. Perry and Tyler are accompanied by the Southern California Children's Chorus in the clip. The special will show again on ESPN on Tuesday, the anniversary of the bombing.
Aerosmith is also preparing to tour this Summer. Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler tells Rolling Stone, "We're an old fashioned rock band. You know what? We're still fucking together, we still have the passion, and we still fight and we still make up and it's still alive. It's still rock & roll."
The world tour will begin on May 14th in Istanbul, Turkey. Slash and his band the Conspirators will be Aerosmith’s support act beginning July 10th in New York. Slash first toured with Aerosmith when he was a member of Guns N’ Roses in 1988.
