The daughter of musician Billy Joel and model Christie Brinkley is recovering after she collapsed on stage during her show at Café Carlyle in New York City on Saturday night.
According to PEOPLE, Alexa Ray Joel was immediately transported to an area hospital after she lost consciousness.
The New York Post reported that the singer was diagnosed with Vasovagal Syncope, which is a common and usually harmless cause of fainting.
"I wanted to thank everyone for coming out to support me. I was excited and determined to fulfill my final performance and I really wanted to end my run with a bang, but this was not what I had in mind and hope I have the opportunity to make it up to the wonderful audience very soon. Thanks for all the concern." Joel said in a statement.
The 28-year-old of two famous parents has been making a name for herself. Saturday was the closing night of her successful run at the venue where she was performing in front of a sold-out crowd.
