Taking a vacation is not for Amy Adams. The five-time Oscar nominee is reportedly in very early talks to join The Story of Your Life, a sci-fi thriller Denis Villeneuve is set to direct.

The news was first reported by Deadline, which notes that the plot is based on a story by Ted Chiang and adapted by Eric Heisserer. Adams would play an expert linguist enlisted to help communicate with aliens who landed on earth. By understanding them, she starts to have flashbacks that explain how they got here and why.

Villeneuve recently told Indiewire that the project is “very poetic, and a strong take on an alien landing on Earth.” He said shooting could start in early 2015.

FilmNation Entertainment is producing and handling worldwide sales with Lava Bear Films.

Adams was just nominated for Best Actress for American Hustle and finished working with Tim Burton and Christoph Waltz on Big Eyes.

While Prisoners failed to get more than an Oscar nomination for cinematography, the film was widely acclaimed. Villeneuve, who landed on Hollywood’s radar with Incendies, quickly made Enemy after Prisoners with Jake Gyllenhaal.
