The comic book movie battle of all time is about to take place. Marvel has announced that Captain America 3 will be headed into theaters on May 6, 2016, which is also the same date for Warner Bros. untitled project, which is known as the sequel to Man of Steel, a.k.a. "Batman vs. Superman."
Marvel made the announcement on their website following the incredible box office success of Captain America: The Winter Solider. In it's opening weekend the film took in $96 million at the box office.
This sequel now holds the box office record for an opening in April, taking the title away from Fast Five.
The statement explained that the third Captain America film is not yet titled but reminded fans that they can see Captain America in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron which will be released on May 1, 2015.
Warner Bros. had originally decided to release "Batman vs. Superman" in July of 2015 but the studio delayed the project an entire year. The release date for this project is now set to May 6, 2016, Variety added.
Marvel is not done releasing films this year, the studio will be back on the big screen in August for Guardians of the Galaxy.
