Ben Stiller is currently in talks to star in the lead role of the upcoming film, I Am Chippendales, written by Alan Ball, who will likely direct.

As Deadline reports, The Weinstein Company is the favorite to purchase the rights to the film, which is an adaptation of the Rodney Sheldon novel of the same name.

Ain't It Cool News reports that Stiller, in the lead role, would play murdered choreographer Nick de Noia who worked at the legendary night club, famous for its all-male dancers.

The story behind the novel and the film concerns Steve Banerjee, a man who finds wild success creating the titular night club. His success led to, of course, excess and eventually paranoia, which drives him to hire a hit man to murder his choreographer (Stiller).

Ball, best known for creating television series Six Feet Under and True Blood and writing American Beauty, will produce along with David Permut and Adam Brawer. David Beitchman of Sentinel Pictures, Peter Saphier, Sheldon and Permut Presentation’s Chris Mangano are set to serve as executive producers.
