Brad Pitt will be taking on a new movie about the military. The popular Hollywood actor is set to star as General McChrystal in the new movie, The Operators.
Pitt’s production company, Plan B, is scheduled to produce the movie along with New Regency and Brett Ratner’s RatPac Entertainment, according to the LA Times. David Michôd has reportedly signed on to write the screenplay and direct the movie.
The film, The Operators, is based on the late Michael Hastings’ book, The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America’s War in Afghanistan, which details the career of Gen. McChrystal. The powerful general was in charge of commanding troops in Afghanistan.
The article, “The Runaway General,” published in Rolling Stone, revealed that McChrystal and his staff had strong things to say about the White House administration and how the administration handled the war. The controversial article earned Hastings the George Polk Award. It also led to McChrystal’s firing by President of the United States, Barack Obama, according to Time.
