A Cottonwood, Calif. grandmother remained in a coma Thursday after a road rage incident where another driver threw a coffee mug at her face.
According to the New York Daily News, authorities have said that Joann Lambrecht-Vester suffered the injuries, which led to her being on life support, after the April 1 attack.
KRCR reported that the victim’s husband Hans Vester, was driving the vehicle and admitted that he cut off a fellow motorist. That driver then began to follow the couple.
Vester said his wife rolled down the window to try and get the other driver to calm down and that’s when he heaved the mug at her face.
“It hit her right over the nose, on the bridge," Vester said.
With his wife bleeding badly, the man rushed to the nearest hospital where doctors were able to revive her, but she slipped into a coma. The family will keep her on support for another week and hope for a change before they make a very tough decision.
Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest of the driver who threw the mug. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
