A man in Sherman Oaks, California was sentenced to 16 months in prison after he admitted to running over his estranged wife’s dog.

According to the New York Daily News, authorities said that Michael David Parker was caught on surveillance footage running over his wife’s beloved Chihuahua named “Cow Cow.”

Parker admitted to running over the five-year-old canine, but told investigators that it was accidental. However, the video of him reversing and then speeding toward the dog reveal a more malicious intent.

"It wasn't an accident. He purposefully did it," said Hawthorne Police Lt. Scott Swain.

The 45-year-old was going through a bitter divorce with his wife at the time that he ran Cow Cow over.

CBS Los Angeles reported that Parker pleaded no contest on Friday in a plea deal to one felony count of cruelty to an animal. He was originally charged with additional counts of felony animal neglect and misdemeanor theft of a dog for the sick crime, but they were dropped in exchange for the plea.
