Festival followers got the word yesterday that the 67th Cannes Annual Festival that this one might be the best one ever. The line-up at The Cannes Film Festival this year includes films from Jean-Luc Godard, Atom Egoyan, and Mike Leigh.

Nicole Kidman’s movie, Grace of Monaco, will open the festival, according to Indiewire.

This year, 49 films were chosen by first-time directors. The competition lineup includes 18 films. Popular directors will be returning to the Cannes. Godard will present Goodbye to Language, his first movie in Cannes since 2010’s Film Socialsme. Cronenberg’s Map to the Stars, a satire on modern Hollywood, stars Carrie Fisher, Mia Wasikowska, and Julianne Moore, according to the The Guardian.

The Un Certain Regard section includes Ryan Gosling’s Lost River, Wim Wenders’ and Juliano Ribeiro Salgado's The Salt of the Earth, and Ned Benson's two-part, Eleanor Rigby.

Other celebs will be showing a different side of themselves at the festival. Steve Carell, known for his comedies like Anchorman, will star in Foxcatcher, the story of a millionaire and a murder.

The Cannes Film Festival runs from May 14 – May 25 in France.
