Chevelle is one of the most consistent and successful bands in rock music today and the rock trio from Chicago is excited to be releasing their seventh album La Gárgola on April 1st. It has been a little over two years since Chevelle’s last album Hats Off to the Bull dropped and Chevelle fans will not be disappointed with the new music.

The first track of the album “Ouija Board” starts off with a bang and continues the tradition of Chevelle albums having a strong opening track to their albums. The way the song begins reminds me of “Family System”, the first track off their 2002 album Wonder What’s Next. The album continues to impress with another hard-hitting heavy rock song “An Island”, where for over five minutes they perfectly blend vocals with guitar sounds and amazing percussion that sounds incredible. It is one of the best tracks on the album.

“Take Out the Gunman” was the first single released off the album back in February and deals with controversial issues including guns and mass shootings and Chevelle addresses these issues in their own unique style and sound. “Hunter Eats Hunter” was the second single released and while it slows the beat down, they add passionate vocals and guitar solos to create another track sticking to Chevelle’s sound and style.

The album features several other tracks blending outstanding percussion with the vocals provided by lead singer Pete Loeffler with the tracks “Jawbreaker”, “Choking Game” and “The Damned”. These tracks prove that throughout the years, Chevelle has created their own unique style and sound and have stayed true to it since the beginning.

“One Ocean and “Twinge” are the two tracks on the album that mainly focus on Chevelle’s ability to deliver with not only hard percussion and guitar solos, but the vocal performances that make this songs deliver on a different level. “One Ocean” is one of my favorite songs on the entire album and one of the best vocal performances I have ever heard Chevelle perform.

La Gárgola is another solid album from Chevelle and is sure to please their many fans and should be successful worldwide. La Gárgola has been available for pre-order on iTunes and is officially available for purchase on April 1, 2014.
