A 14-year-old Chicago teenager was allegedly gunned down by another girl of the same age after they had a Facebook feud over a boy.
According to TIME, Endia Martin was walking home from school on the city’s South Side when an argument broke out with a group of teens on the sidewalk.
During the brawl, a 16-year-old girl, who was walking with Martin, was shot in the arm, but she is expected to fully recover. Martin, however, was shot in the back and taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
NBC 4 Chicago noted that the juvenile suspect has been charged with the fatal shooting. She is not being identified because of her age.
Authorities said that Martin exchanged words with the others and one of them allegedly pulled out a gun and started shooting.
The victim’s family believed that she was shot down because she had a Facebook dispute with a rival teen over a boy. Police have yet to confirm that claim.
Martin's stepfather, Kent Kennedy, said she was active in sports, loved to dance and dreamed of visiting Paris and Rome.
