Fandango is expanding its online services to include more trailers and curated scenes from films. The movie ticketing service, owned by Comcast Corp., is buying MovieClips from Zefr Inc. to increase its content.
The online platform will access the massive archive of 45,000 clips, which generated 5.2 billion views on YouTube since 2009. MovieClips is the largest network on YouTube, averaging 200 million views per month and seven million subscribers. The MovieClips network consists of a catalogue of 45,000 film clips and trailers, according to Reuters.
“The MovieClips acquisition will further serve our fans, enhancing the Fandango experience with amazing video content available at one definitive destination,” Paul Yanover, President of Fandango, said in a statement, according to The Wrap, “This deal, along with the launch of our redesigned website and mobile apps, will provide consumers an even better way to explore and share their passion for the movies.”
It is a great stride for marketing, and companies who market films will be able to reach more movie fans. Fandango previously purchased Quantum Loyalty Solutions to expand their promotional services. Fandango sells tickets for approximately 23,000 theaters in the United States.
