Country music singer Kevin Sharp died at age 43 in Fair Oaks, California.
The country music star died at his mother’s house on Saturday after complications from stomach surgeries and digestive issues that he suffered from cancer.
"He had a strong heart, that's what kept him alive, (but) I'm so happy for him, that there's no more suffering," Mary Huston told the Associated Press. He returned to Northern California last Friday after 10 weeks in the hospital.
Sharp was known in the world of country music. His single “Nobody Knows” in 1997 was a chart topper. Sharp’s album, Measure of a Man, was also a hit with fans. The album produced the singles, “If You Love Somebody” and “She’s Sure Taking it Well.” The album, Make A Wish, was released in 2005.
Sharp found that he had Ewing's sarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, as a high school senior. He became a motivational speaker and a spokesman for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He also wrote, Tragedy’s Gift, a book about fighting cancer.
A memorial service for Sharp will take place in Nashville, according to The Wrap. Sharp is survived by his mother, five brothers, and two sisters.
