The sequel to the widely popular Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, titled Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon II- The Green Destiny, will be shot in New Zealand and China later this year.
Even though this is being called a sequel this film will be a prequel to the Ang Lee-directed film.
The movie will be directed by Yuen Woo-ping who is a veteran martial arts performer who worked on the original film back in 2000 as a fight choreographer, Variety reported. The script is being written by John Fusco.
Only two weeks out of the production schedule will be taking place in China, the rest of the principal photography will be taking place in New Zealand.
There are many benefits to a large film shooting in New Zealand. This unlocks many production incentives that had been introduced at the start of this month. In this country a film rebate of 20% of local expenditure, under the old rules films could only receive a 15% rebate.
BBC reported that the 2000 drama remains the most successful Chinese-language film of all time.
