Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn confirmed recently that filming has begun on the first live action Star Wars movie since 2005.
In March it was believed that shooting would begin in May in London, but in an interview at Loyola Marymount School of Film and TV last week the Disney chief confirmed that they were a month ahead of that schedule. On Friday speculation began on Jedi News that filming had already started in Cairo, but the last half of that rumor has not been confirmed.
In the interview Horn admitted that although filming had begun the cast is still incomplete and finishing it is the hardest part. He said a lot of the cast has been decided but is not ready to be announced. When prompted for more information he slipped into a Yoda impression to encourage the audience to be patient.
On the other hand, Horn also said the most important part of the movie is the screenplay, which has been completed by J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan after an early draft by Michael Arndt.
