In an interview with Red magazine, Blended star Drew Barrymore discussed her love for motherhood.

Shortly after her interview with Red, Barrymore and husband Will Kopelman’s second daughter, Frankie, was born on April 22. Just a year and a half after their first daughter, Olive.

The June cover girl told Red, “I am loving being a mom.”

“Olive is a year and a half now so [the girls] will be close together in age,” she continued. “I think, just get it done-- it will be awesome!”

The 39-year-old actress believes being a hands on mom is important. Unlike how the general public may perceive Hollywood mothers to have nannies to take care of their kids, Barrymore loves nothing more than private family time, according to E! News.

“We spend every weekend together," Barrymore said to Red. "We don't have a babysitter. It's just us. I can't wait to see how that's going to work out with the second one!”

Barrymore’s parents separated before she was born and although she accepted her father’s absence from her life, having that experience as a child has shaped the way she chose her partner, Kopelman, and how she appreciates hands-on fathers like her friend and co-star in her new movie Blended, Adam Sandler, stated E! News.

“There are moments in the film [Blended] that really get me – like the way Adam is with his on-screen daughters is so good, it breaks my heart," she said. "That's how he is with his own kids, and it's very touching.”

As a full-time actress and a full-time mom, Barrymore still manages to have time to spend time with friends and learn new skills, like cooking.

E! News reported that the working mom took culinary classes in Napa Valley, with Charlie’s Angels costar and best friend Cameron Diaz as well as Reese Witherspoon, while she was still pregnant with Frankie.

"I really love cooking, it makes me so happy. But I'm terrible at it… but I'm really working on it,” she said.

“I might travel somewhere to do it, and bring the family,” the mom of two said about her plans to go to cooking school this summer. “I love cooking for Olive now, but I used to be Mrs. Takeout…Cameron's a great cook, and always has been. I'm just trying to catch up to that."

Barrymore’s full interview will be available in the June issue of Red Magazine on sale Thursday, May 1.
