The Duchess of Cornwall, Camilla Bowles’ brother, Mark Shand, passed away on Wednesday following a fall on Tuesday night outside of NYC nightclub following a charity event for The Elephant House.
Shand, who was 62, died in the city’s Bellevue Hospital and now new details are coming to light.
According to MailOnline, Shand had taken the blood pressure medication Rampipril and cholesterol medication Simvastatin before his fall, both of which were prescribed to him.
However, a study done Harvard Medical School and the University of Yale had proved a 40 percent increase of people suffering a fatal fall over the course of three years taking it.
The cause of death has not been announced yet but those close to him believe it was a heart attack. It is known that he suffered a head injury after falling outside the Gramercy Park Hotel's Rose Bar.
Clarence House confirmed his death in an official statement, saying “It is with deep sadness that we have to confirm that The Duchess of Cornwall's brother, Mark Shand, has today passed away in New York. Mr. Shand died in hospital as a result of a serious head injury which he sustained during a fall last night.”
