It seems like Karmin might have to make way for a new dynamic duo, With the combination of a vocally trained pianist as with the retro/punk styling of drummer This new group, Laura Leighe, will make you feel good and dance.

Originally from Oklahoma City, this duo of Laura Stockton and Zach Dumbleton describes their sound as “Top 40 pop” with a mix of retro. These two originally met back in 2009 when Stockton released her first debut album “Unreal” under the name of Laura Gossett and Dumbleton was a drummer for the band Theatre Breaks Loose. Stockton has worked with artists such as Kelly Clarkson, Toby Keith, and Vanessa Carlton. Dumbleton has toured with several different artists 3OH!3, We the Kings, and even up and coming artist Greyson Chance.

The Laura Leighe Ep consists of four different tracks, each of them catchier than the next. The first song on the list is “Find Me”, is a great intro into what this group is about, taking something old and making it new, as they incorporate “Mr. Sandman” originally by the Chordettes. The second track on the album, “Lovesick Spaceship”, has already taking the Youtube world by storm. Like every aspiring Top 40 artist you need a song appears fun and flirty and this is that song. The third song is the classic yet funky,”Why Lie”, in which Stockton finds out her supposed boyfriend has be caught cheating with another girl. “Heaven”, the last track on the album is about romance and love it shows off Stockton’s highly trained vocals.

It’s a great start for this new duo. Hopefully they continue to make more great music. Their EP is available on iTunes or Amazon.
