Eli Roth, the horror mastermind behind such films as Hostel and Cabin Fever, has released the teaser trailer for his latest film, Green Inferno. This is Roth's first time directing a feature film since he worked on Hostel: Part II.
Variety reported that Roth not only directed the film but is a producer and co-writer, along with Guillermo Amoedo.
The horror film will tell the story of students who travel from New York to the Amazon on a trip to help a native tribe that is on the brink of extinction. Instead of helping the group, the students end up at the mercy of the tribe who are cannibals.
Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy, Daryl Sabara and Kirby Bliss Blanton star in the horror film.
At the end of the teaser trailer a note flashes across the screen reading: “Filmed on location in the rainforest of Peru, the native tribe featured in this motion picture has never been filmed before.”
ComingSoon.net announced that the film will be released on Sept. 5. Open Road Films acquired the rights to the film at the Toronto Film Festival.
