HBO's Game of Thrones has a history of breaking the Internet and the latest eposide which is being referred to as the “purple wedding," did well in the ratings but set a new record for piracy online.

TorrentFreak.com reported that the latest eposide of Game of Thrones has broken the record for the most people sharing a single file simultaneously via BitTorrent.

“More than 193,000 people shared a single copy [Monday] evening, and roughly 1.5 million people downloaded the episode during the first day," said Ernesto Van Der Sar, founder of copyright piracy news site TorrentFreak.

Van Der Sar went on to explain that 193,418 people where sharing one single file and that hours within the show airing, 145,594 people had a complete copy of the eposide and 47,824 fans were waiting to download the file.

Variety reported that the old record holder for piracy went to Game of Thrones as well, the season three finale, broke Internet piracy records.
