The New Wave movement of the 80’s was synth heavy, electro rock that had a danceable beat while still mixing in distorted guitars. Widely known for his 1979 hit “Cars”, and riding the wave of the nostalgia of 80’s style, Gary Numan released Splinter (Songs From a Broken Mind) to critical acclaim and his latest single “I Am Dust” is a highlight of the album.

The performance video follows Numan singing the song using a Tachyons + video glitch effect throughout, the video gives a grainy, VHS appearance, reminiscent of the early music video technology. The song highlights the throwback feel with its dark and dreary industrialized sound with Numan’s smooth vocal lines and staccato attack sending you in a time machine to the genre’s heyday.

Numan is finishing up his tour in support of Splinter (Songs From a Broken Mind), with dates finishing up the first week of April in the United States on the West Coast, then heading Down Under in May for a handful of dates including Auckland and Melbourne.
