A Georgia man was arrested following an accidental shooting which resulted in the death of his daughter.
According to News4Jax, Joshua Jowers, 33, was arrested after his son accidental shot his daughter, 10-year-old Taylor Jower. Jowers is a convicted felon and as such, is not allowed to be in possession of firearms.
The incident occurred Friday afternoon when Taylor Jowers asked her older brother if she could hold the gun. While he was in the process of unloading the gun, to make sure it was safe for Taylor, it went off and struck her.
According to The New York Daily News, the girl’s older brother went next door to call an ambulance. His parents, who were at work, arrived shortly after emergency personnel.
Taylor Jowers died before she could be airlifted to a hospital.
Joshua Jowers was arrested shortly after the incident for weapons possession. He reportedly had several firearms inside his home, including the one that killed his daughter.
No one has been charged for Taylor Jower’s death.
