A Georgia woman was fatally shot while shopping at a mall and authorities believe that she knew her killer.
According to The Atlanta Journal Constitution, Violet Lambert, 55, of Atlanta was shot multiple times outside of a Macy’s at Cumberland Mall Monday. Authorities are sure the victim knew her killer.
Witnesses say the man, later identified as 59-year-old Danny Wray Brown, showed little emotion and was disturbingly composed.
According to The New York Daily News, in addition to murdering Violet Lambert, Brown shot at police officer, Sgt. Dana Pierce, and an unnamed man who tried to help the victim.
Violet Lambert was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital where she passed away.
Authorities moved in on Brown after he left the scene of the crime and followed him to his home. However, by the time authorities got inside, Brown had shot himself to death.
“We are 99.99 percent sure he’s the shooter,” Sgt. Pierce said, feeling that Brown accurately fits the description by witnesses of the shooter.
While police are not sure of Brown’s motive, they are sure that the two knew each other.
“This was not a random act. There are probably more details to this story we will never know because the victim and the shooter are deceased,” Sgt. Pierce said.
