Following the death of camera assistant Sarah Jones on the project, Midnight Rider production has stopped and main film subject Gregg Allman is urging director Randall Miller not to proceed with production on the biopic.

Midnight Rideris based off of the best-selling autobiography My Cross to Bear.

The Hollywood Reporter added that Allman, who is one of the founding members of the Allman Brothers Band, wrote a personal letter to Miller asking him to not move forward with the film. Shooting would be resuming soon in L.A.

The letter opens with; “I am writing to you as one human being to another, and appealing to you from my heart,” Allman writes. “I am asking you from a personal perspective not to go forward.”

The musician was on board with the film prior to the death of Jones but his feelings drastically changed.

“While there may have been a possibility that the production might have resumed shortly after that, the reality of Sarah Jones’ tragic death, the loss suffered by the Jones family and injuries to the others involved has led me to realize that for you to continue production would be wrong," said Allman.

Earlier this week, one of the film’s stars, William Hurt, left production, AP added.
