Movie fans will have some new options for seeing films in a streaming format. Hulu will continue their deal with The Criterion Collection to offer to streaming art films from the Criterion Collection.
Peter Becker, president of the Criterion Collection, told the Associated Press, "It was important to us that Criterion actually have a home and have a strong central locus to which our audience could gather and know they were finding the breadth of the library."
Movie buffs can rent or download films from the collection. Streaming providers like iTunes and Amazon also offer films, but Hulu Plus offers a vast digital library. According to the Criterion website, there are more than 800 Criterion films available on Hulu Plus.
The curated playlists include categories like Cannes Winners, Documentaries, Spectacular Set Design, and The Dark Side. Titles include The Seventh Seal, Miss Julie, Paris, Texas, and Europa.
The Criterion and Blu-ray collection includes 12 Angry Men, The 39 Steps, The Big City, and Brazil.
Hulu Plus has more than 5 million members at this point. Movie watchers pay $7.99 for the monthly service.
