Jeb Bush said on Wednesday that he’s thinking about the possibility of running for president.
The former Florida governor and the son and brother of former presidents spoke at Catholic school benefit in New York. The event was attended by Cardinal Timothy Dolan, and the purpose of the benefit was to raise money for the Archdiocese of New York’s Catholic schools.
According to Fox news, Bush told an attendee, “I'm thinking about running for president."
His announcement was met with great support as crowds applauded for the politician. Bush said that by the end of the year, he’ll make a final decision about running for office.
Bush had been consulting with his inner circle about the presidential race, according to Reuters. One of the politicians who is also considering a run for the presidency is U.S. Senator Marco Rubio. As strategists look at the moves toward office, they say that Bush and Rubio could encounter difficulty with fundraising, as some of their ties with Republican donors are the same.
