On Friday, April 18, Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves took the stage together at the “CMT Crossroads” event at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California.
The “CMT Crossroads” is a series of concerts that pairs together country artists with other artists outside of the genre. This year will be the celebration of the 50th episode that will be airing on June 13. One pairing that has people excited is the duo of Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves.
According to Direct Lyrics, the two singers her trading each other’s songs as they performed together and even shared some of the songs. One song that the two decided to cover was Dolly Parton’s Here You Come Again.
“From the moment I heard ‘Merry Go Round’ by Kacey Musgraves, I knew we were cut from the same songwriter’s cloth,” Perry told Billboard through a statement. “I have been a fan and a friend of hers from the beginning, always championing her prolific songs every opportunity I get.”
Perry continued to say that she believes that Musgraves’ unique perspective with her writing should make her a household name as an artist.
“It’s going to be a BLAST to play on each other’s songs this Crossroads,” Perry said. “It will be a preview to our Prismatic World Tour road trip this summer WHICH I CAN’T WAIT FOR!”
The official airing of Perry and Musgraves’ performance on CMT Crossroads is on June 13. The duo’s performance will air at approximately 10 p.m. ET on CMT.
