The small Kentucky community of Covington is outraged after a deputy sheriff fatally shot a 19-year-old attempting to leave a party on Saturday night.
According to WLWT-TV, authorities said that Samantha Ramsey was shot by Deputy Tyler Brockman when she accelerated instead of stopping her car like he ordered.
The Cincinnati Enquirer reported that Boone County deputies were responding to a call about a possible underage drinking party in a field near the Ohio River.
When officers arrived, people attempted to leave the party.
Ramsey, who was also attempting to flee in her vehicle, was asked to stop by Brockman. However, investigators said she ignored the deputy and struck him with her car and that is when the officer fired four shot through the windshield into the woman.
Ramsey friends dispute that claim and said the Brockman was acting aggressively and actually jumped onto the hood of the car.
The teen was taken to a local hospital and died from the gunshot wounds.
The deputy has been placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
