Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele have signed on to produce New Line's reboot of Police Academy.
The creators and stars of Key & Peele will produce alongside Paul Maslansky, who helped produce the original comedy series that spanned seven films, according to The Hollywood Reporter, who was the first to report the news.
New Line has been trying to bring Police Academy back for a few years, but hasn't had any success. Scott Zabielski was originally tapped to helm the film, but has since departed the project.
Maslansky said back in 2010 that the film would star relative unknowns. "It's going to be very worthwhile to the people who remember it and to those who saw it on TV," he said. "It's going to be a new class. We hope to discover new talent and season it with great comedians."
The first Police Academy film, which starred Steve Guttenberg, was released back in 1984, notes Variety. The seventh film was released in 1994.
There is no word if Key and Peele would star in the series or if they are only going to produce.
