Louisiana Rep. Vance McAllister, who was caught kissing another man's wife on tape, announced that he would not be resigning, despite some in the GOP calling for him to step down.

Though McAllister has stayed out of the public view after the tape surfaced earlier in the week, his office says that he will not be stepping down just because some in the GOP would like him to, reports The Associated Press.

Whether he will continue to seek re-election was not answered by any of his staff, with spokeswoman Jennifer Dunagin writing in an email, "The congressman is not focused on re-election right now. His family is his No. 1 priority at this time."

The pressure for McAllister's resignation was heard loudest from legislators in his state, while few spoke up in Washington, D.C. Gov. Bobby Jindal made his feelings know in the middle of the week saying McAllister's actions were an "embarrassment and he should resign."

He also added that McAllister's comments about seeking privacy with his family at this time would be best followed though by resigning his position.

Louisiana GOP chair Roger F. Villere, Jr also loudly called for the congressman to step down after the video was leaked saying that his behavior was "unbecoming a member of Congress."

House Speaker John Boehner didn't directly call for McAllister to resign, but did note that the congressman has "decisions to make."
