Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant may have had a lost season, but that’s not stopping Showtime from celebrating his glory years. The network said today that it will air a documentary on Bryant in the fall.
Titled Kobe Bryant’s Muse, the film will be directed by Gotham Chopra. It will focus on Bryant’s life, his inspirations and the challenges he faces as one of the most recognizable American athletes in the world.
“We are thrilled that Kobe has given us this unprecedented access, which will allow our viewers to witness such a challenging period of time in the life of one of the NBA’s greatest players,” Stephen Espinoza, Executive Vice President and General Manager, said in a statement released by the network.
Showtime said that production has already started and that it should air this fall.
As for Bryant and the Lakers’ current fortunes, the team finally finished a disastrous season with a 113-110 win over the San Antonio Spurs, who already had their playoff seed set. The Lakers finished with a 27-55 record and Bryant missed most of the season due to injury.
The Los Angeles Times reprots that Bryant even left for France before the game Wednesday. According to the paper, Bryant’s frustration with the team grew as the season wore on, even complaining about being associated with a group under .500 during the team photo session.
Bryant took to Twitter to express his anger, writing, “S*** season. Flush it. Forget it #amnesia Next Season will be epic #blackout.”
