Noah, the film featuring Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly, has been banned in Malaysia.

Malaysian authorities said that, like other nations, they are opposed to the depiction of a prophet in the film.

According to the Associated Press, Film Censorship Board chairman Abdul Halim Abdul Hamid said in a statement, "The film Noah is not allowed to be screened in this country to protect the sensitivity and harmony in Malaysia's multiracial and multireligious community.”

Noah has also been banned in Indonesia, Qatar, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates. Even though it’s banned in some Muslim countries, Noah, featuring Russell Crowe, is having a stellar time at the box office in the US, and the controversial movie by Darren Aronofsky seems to be getting more popular as it is being banned.

The domestic totals for the film at this point are $72,341,000, according to Box Office Mojo. The ban in some countries also hasn’t stopped the release of the film in Australia, Bulgaria, Hong Kong, Israel, and South Korea. Box office numbers in foreign countries are up to $106,200,000.
