A man was taken into custody by police Friday night after being connected to a gun threat at the Los Angeles Times building.
According to The Associated Press, the man, who police say is 28 years old, was removed from the building and taken into custody. He works for Vxi Global Solutions, which rents office space in the building.
A call went out to police at 7:26 p.m., after a text message alert saying that there may be someone in the building “about to start shooting”, according to Detective Gus Villanueva.
The building was put on lockdown and employees who had already left were not being allowed back inside until the premises was clear.
The LA Times reports that the man, who has not yet been identified, said he was depressed, didn’t mind killing someone, and didn’t want to go to jail, according to witnesses. He also handed someone a bag of bullets.
Police have not yet confirmed if any shots were fired or if a gun was found.
