A Florida man accused of driving into a daycare was ordered Friday to remain in jail for fear that he may try to leave the area.
According to the Associated Press, Robert Corchado will stay in jail until at least Monday so that his judge can hear all sides of the case. Corchado is accused of killing one girl and injuring 14 others when his car spun out into the daycare center.
Corchado initially had his bail set at $100,000, but it was taken away when one of the prosecutors came forward with a trooper “who can testify that he (Corchado) is a flight risk.”
“He has it on good authority that this defendant, is planning, once he posts bond, to leave the country,” Prosecutor Austin Price said.
CNN reports that Corchado initially fled the accident and abandoned his car. He then immediately rented another car to leave the area.
The daycare, KinderCare, stating that they are doing all they can to recover from these horrible events.
